In October 2025, we reviewed videos from a concert at East Side Park. We thought the stage could use a visual upgrade. We rendered an idea and held a social media vote. This helped ensure the community supported the project. We pitched the idea at a city council meeting. After receiving approval, we received our first project donation.

This was the unofficial start of the Morris Unity Fund. It began as a simple spreadsheet tracking public donations. We assembled a whole crew of community members to wash the stage. Then, we masked everything for painting. County Line Rentals in Cyrus offered us a hydraulic lift. When we picked it up, we spotted someone painting a barn with a paint sprayer. After chatting with them, they donated the sprayer for our project!

It took multiple weekends with winter weather threatening to impede our plans, but we persevered, and now East Side Park’s centerpiece has a shiny new facelift. This was a big moment for our group, because it proved that you, our friends and neighbors, are ready and willing to show up and help out!
